Lighthouse Tour Guides (seasonal)

Point Prim Lighthouse is seeking staff for our 2024 season. Our Lighthouse and Gift Shop will be open from May 17, 2024 through to early November. We have some positions for the entire season, and some for high school’s summer break.

The Job: Tour Guide and Gift Shop Clerk

Hours: min. of 32 hours per week, min of 10 weeks

Pay:  $15.50/hour Student Wage, $18.00/hour Adult Wage

  Key Responsibilities

Greeting, leading and educating visitors on the history of the lighthouse
Greeting tour groups
Guided Tours through 4 floors of our historical site
Selling retail goods and using Square POS
Cash Handling
Cleaning
Basic Yard Work
Being present, kind, engaged and inclusive of the board, the staff and our visitors.

Physical Demands

Climbing of steep stairs for several stories

Housekeeping

Skills

Must enjoy working with the public

Communicate effectively with coworkers, other staff and public

Decision-making

Positive attitude with fellow workers and public

Education and Experience

Previous retail experience an asset (but not required)

Will train on our Square Point of Sale system
